The Bern Foundation for Radio and Television promotes the range and quality of electronic media in the cantons of Bern, Fribourg and Valais. The foundation also works to promote understanding between German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland. Since 1982, the foundation has awarded prizes for outstanding journalistic work that lives up to this goal.
The prizes are financed mainly from the income from the foundation’s capital. The total prize money is a maximum of 16,000 Swiss francs . The jury consists of members of the foundation’s board of directors and other people.
Broadcast contributions whose subject matter concerns the cantons of Bern, Fribourg and Valais are eligible for the Radio Prize and the Television Prize .
The Prix Passerelle is awarded to a journalistic work that focuses on lived multilingualism, or rather the exchange between the language regions in the bilingual cantons of Bern, Fribourg and Valais.
For the second time, the Bern Foundation is awarding a prize for digital and multimedia formats . Journalistic productions for social media, multimedia narrative pieces, original podcasts (not radio broadcasts) or similar can be submitted. For this prize, too, the submitted contributions must have a content-related connection to the cantons of Bern, Fribourg or Valais. (suite…)
